Lesson Policies

Registration and Scheduling

  • Lessons are held once a week for 30 minutes, in person or online.
  • Registration reserves a recurring lesson time from the starting date through June 30.
  • The regular season runs Monday through Saturday from September to June.
  • Summer lessons operate on a reduced schedule and require separate registration.
  • Lesson times are not automatically carried over to the following season.
  • Trial lessons are available for $25.
  • Student recitals are held in December and June.

Fees and Billing

  • Weekly 30-minute lesson: $32.50
  • Typical four-lesson month: $130
  • Invoices are issued at the beginning of each month and adjusted to the number of lessons scheduled.
  • Payment is due within the first week of the month.
  • Tuition reserves the student’s weekly time and remains payable regardless of attendance.
  • Lessons may be suspended and the reserved time released if an account becomes overdue.

Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons

  • Cancellations must be submitted to the school at least 24 hours before the lesson.
  • Students may receive up to four make-up lessons per registered lesson series between September and June.
  • Late cancellations, missed lessons and student no-shows are not eligible for make-ups, credits or refunds.
  • Make-up lessons are subject to availability and may be scheduled with another qualified instructor.
  • Once booked, a make-up lesson cannot be cancelled or rescheduled.
  • All make-up lessons expire on August 31 or when the student withdraws, whichever comes first.
  • Rock Band absences are not eligible for make-ups or credits.
  • Arriving late does not extend the scheduled lesson time.

Instructor and School Cancellations

  • If an instructor is unavailable, the school may provide a qualified substitute.
  • If no substitute is available, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited.
  • Make-ups resulting from an instructor’s absence do not count toward the student’s four-lesson allowance.
  • If the school closes because of severe weather or another emergency, affected families will be advised whether lessons will move online, be rescheduled or receive a credit.

Lesson Holds

  • An absence of three to six consecutive weeks may be placed on hold with at least two weeks’ advance notice.
  • A hold fee of $13 per scheduled lesson reserves the student’s regular time.
  • The hold request form and payment must be submitted before the absence.
  • Students must return on the agreed date or provide at least one week’s notice of any change. Otherwise, the reserved time may be released.
  • Families who do not require their time to be held may withdraw and register again later, subject to availability.

Request a Lesson Hold

Withdrawal

  • Written notice must be submitted to the school before the end of the current month to discontinue lessons for the following month.
  • Notice given only to an instructor is not considered formal withdrawal.
  • Registration and billing continue until the school receives written notice.
  • Current-month fees are non-refundable.
  • Lump-sum payments are non-refundable, but unused credits may be transferred to another student or applied toward store merchandise.
  • The student’s regular time is released at the end of the final paid month.

Switching to an Online Lesson

  • An in-person lesson may be changed to online up to 30 minutes before its scheduled time, subject to instructor availability.
  • For a last-minute change, contact the school by both phone and email.
  • Technical problems on the student’s side do not qualify for a credit or replacement lesson.
