Fundamental Music Workshops
West End Music School has created an exciting interactive music workshop that has been very well received by students and teachers. We offer a new dynamic approach that puts the FUN into the fundamentals!
The program is designed to meet the guidelines for the Ontario Ministry of Education music curriculum. The fundamental concepts of music, rhythm/tempo, pitch/tone and composition are presented in three consecutive workshops.
Each concept is first explained by the presenter then followed up with guided interactive group participation and exercises.
Activities and Exercises
Students are engaged through fun and active exercises involving physical movement, vocalization, and the use of simple pitch and rhythm instruments with the objective of;
- Creating and Performing: Apply the creative process to create and perform music for a variety of purposes, using the elements and techniques of music;
- Reflecting, Responding, and Analyzing: Apply the critical analysis process to communicate their feelings, ideas, and understanding in response to a variety of music and musical experiences;
- Exploring Forms and Cultural Contexts: Demonstrate an understanding of a variety of musical genres and styles from the past and present, and their social and/or community contexts.
Student success will be determined on the participation of each student. Each workshop has been carefully planned with the intent that all students, regardless of age or academic level will be able to succeed. Accommodations and modifications have been put in place for those students.
